I never post on this. But this is an exception.

So, here is a little video I recently had a small part in making.  Hopefully I will be publishing and making quite a bit more new stuff pretty soon.

I am pretty much obsessed with these two songs.

This one belongs in a Wes Anderson movie, but don't tell him, I want to use it.  I just can't believe I have never heard this before.

And I don't even know what to say about this song.  It's just...

So, about a week and a half ago I almost died.  I collapsed on my bike in the middle of the road, then I fell down again an hour later and smashed my head on the pavement.   I have had a genetic disorder called LQTS my whloe life. It's a miracle it didn't at least try to kill me when I was in high school wrestling or playing football.  Often the first sign of this disorder is sudden cardiac death.  Usualy, when you hear of an otherwise healthy athlete collasing and dying of sudden cardiac arrest, it is because of this syndrome.
The funny thing is, when they finally got me to the hospital and hooked me up to a heart monitor, they assumed it (the monitor, not my heart) was broken because there was no way somebody could be alive, let alone conscious with the heart rhythm I had.  They tried two other heart monitors before they then frantically paged what seemed like nearly every cardiologist in the Hospital to come see if they could make heads or tails of what was going on.  For some reason, I was conscious and coherent (albeit a little angry as is my usual disposition after a concussion, which is actually somewhat useful in the game of football where they happened before) I had cardiologists that weren't even my doctor stopping by my room in the ICU days after just to tell me how crazy my EKG was and how they had been following my situation because I should have at least been unconscious but more than likely dead within a few minutes.  So, as my friend Paul put it, my heart must be a little stupid, but very strong.
Good new is, I am now a cyborg and hopefully if my heart wigs out again, the robotics within me will shock me out of it.  My heart will literally not beat any faster than 30-40 bpm on its own anymore, but my ICD will make sure it doesn;t drop below 80 bpm - which will be handy as an internal metronome seeing as how I am a drummer.  They thought it might have been some sort of medicinally induced thing, but all of the toxicology reports came back negative, so it was definitely just genetic.    I wonder what it was that finally broke my heart?

Anyway, I think the only use I have for this blog is just to post good music and movie stuff, so I am going to start doing that again, since I seem to have some time on my hand at least for a little while.

Song for Zula by Phosphorescent has really been helping me out.

I know this is old, but I have been listening to it at least once a day for the last few months.

This is my Cat Bowie.

Officially his name is David Bowie. I want to name my first daughter Bowie and if she comes along while I still have this cat, I think we will start calling him David to avoid confusion. Is it bad to name your child after your cat who is named after a musician?

Perfume Genius

This band, Perfume Genius, is all I can listen to. My wife put the song Learning on a mix tape for me right after we met but it didn;t stick until this last week. His new album just released a week or so ago and it's kind of incredible. This is my favorite song from it so far.

Donovan

I'm not a huge Donovan fan, not as much as my wife. But Last night we were able to weasle our way into a show he played with only about 250 in a little room. It was pretty awesome.

Also Rodriguez, from the movie Searching for Sugarman, which I bet we will see in theatres very soon, was pretty awesome. His story is pretty much unbelievable.

We also met this awesome lady from Houston who wrote this article about the concert
