A Serious Man

I have seen a lot of sad movies lately. This one was by quite far the saddest and most hopeless. But, it was also thoroughly enjoyable, funny and really good. I'm so very confused. I think the movie is basically half way between Barton Fink and The Man Who Wasn't There.

I loved this movie. I really hated Burn After Reading, which felt mean-spirited and exceedingly bleak. This was--at least, I thought so--more humane. But bleak, yes, for sure. It was such a well-made, shapely, smart, sharp film, though. And I must say I loved loved loved how it used that Jefferson Airplane song, which I must go download right . . . now.

I had no idea that they had put out another film.
